Georgia O'Keeffe Art Project and Writing Piece (Flash Giveaway!)

Image
First of all, I'm loving the flash giveaways that I'm doing with my new products, so be sure to keep your eyes open for a lot more of those! Second of all, one of my favorite art units is coming up... Georgia O'Keeffe.  Each year I teach my kindergarten students about her, and they learn how she created such beautiful images of flowers.  They are always inspired by her work and love using colored pencils to try to be an artist just like her!  After their artwork is done, I have them do a follow up writing piece describing their flower or trying to convince someone to plant their flower in their garden.  It's always adorable to see what they write! I finally made the project a little cuter and posted it up on TPT.  Be sure to check it out by clicking the picture below! Now for the flash giveaway... guess which month I teach this unit in!  Leave a comment with your answer and email address! Update 10:00pm: I teach this unit in April!  Congrats to all of ...

The Handwriting Fairy!

Image
It's time... the handwriting fairy NEEDS to visit our classroom again!  The students have been writing longer pieces than they've even written before, but it's so sloppy that it's starting to drive me crazy!  I need to address this ASAP! I have to say, I love the Handwriting Fairy Pack from What the Teacher Wants (below) and it is 100% my inspiration for this post!  Please be sure to visit Rachelle's blog to get the original pack! Now, of course... being the tech-addict that I am... I needed to make a digital handwriting fairy to complement this post!  Here is what will be waiting on our class website for the students tomorrow! I plan on having her visit our class website quite a few times (with different messages, of course!)  I'm very excited to see the kids initial reaction to this Voki tomorrow! I also plan on using these labels as stickers for quick notes from the handwriting fairy! Note: This preview is hosted on Google Docs.  ...
